Artistamp Artifacts: Artist Call for artistic stamps
PREAMBLE: Because so many worldwide have shared their works with me and, because artistamps are my preferred medium for presenting my own art. I'd like to do something in return for the mail art community as a whole. That being an ongoing call for artistamp artists. This call for artistamps will collect and document your miniature works of art of today, for the sake of preservation in the future. Your stamps will be distributed to all subscribers of Artistamp Artifacts.

DEADLINE: None, ongoing project. (THIS PROJECT BEGAN IN MAY 2001)

MEDIUM:
  • Open - any method/technique of creating artistamps will be accepted.
  • All submissions will be included - no jury.

THEME: Any

DOCUMENTATION: Documentation will be provided to all participants when publication occurs. Effective October 1, 2004, we are publishing ARTISTAMP ARTIFACTS each quarter year. Publication dates are the months of January, April, July, and October. No other returns.

SUBMISSIONS:

  1. Send 50 - 100 (or more) of your own artistamps per submission. Stamps should be all the same. Actual stamps will be included in the documentation returned to participants (and others). Stamps collected and used in the quarterly publication will also be distributed to the other participants highlighted, and all subscribers to the current issue. Your stamps submitted may also be used for decoration of the envelopes that Artistamp Artifacts is mailed in.
  2. Each submitting participant will receive one copy of the issue of Artistamp Artifacts that the stamp appears with/in.
  3. You are highly encouraged to include any information about the stamp you are submitting for the call. E.g. background information such as: why you decided to make the stamp, how you made it, an interesting anecdote about it, technical information, etc. We will include this information, along with your stamp, in the issue of Artistamp Artifacts it appears in. (WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO EDIT/CONDENSE YOUR TEXT AS NECESSARY.) Also see: Guidelines for submitting written articles to Artistamp Artifacts.
  4. Please be patient. Your stamp may not be published immediately. But we will make every attempt to be as prompt at including it in our next issue as possible.
  5. Be sure to include your name and snail mail address (legibly please) with your submissions. This information will be provided in the documentation so that others may contact you directly about your stamp art.
  6. If you have an email address, please include it too, so that we may quickly contact you if we need to. (Note: email addresses will not be included in the documentation unless you instruct us otherwise).
